It is highly likely they are using eggs from a donor and/or possibly having a gestational surrogate carry the pregnancy. These are common assisted reproduction treatment options for older women. But, a woman can need to use donor eggs and/or a surrogate even when age is not a factor.
Some women are born without or have an abnormally formed uterus or may have had their uterus removed due to disease, severe endometriosis or uterine fibroids. There are a number of reasons why a woman may not be able to successfully conceive, carry a pregnancy and give birth.
