Interests and Fertility Treatment Philosophy

Rhode Island fertility doctorBecoming a specialist in reproductive medicine was Dr. Luzzo's goal from the beginning of medical school. As she explains, "For many people, achieving their hopes and dreams is determined by having children and creating a family. I treasure my opportunities to help couples achieve this dream through the surgical, clinical and emotional aspects of assisted reproduction treatment. My philosophy is to take an individualized approach with all of my patients with regards to the challenges they may face. Each patient has a unique medical, psychological and financial history that may influence their choices with respect to treatment options. Keeping these aspects in mind is crucial in optimizing a treatment plan for the couple.”

Dr Luzzo further explains that, “Patients seeking care for reproductive health issues demand a compassionate, skilled, and educated physician. I am dedicated to providing empathetic, superb patient care in all aspects of reproductive medicine.”

While she is skilled in all aspects of reproductive endocrinology, Dr. Luzzo is particularly interested in recurrent pregnancy loss, in vitro fertilization, polycystic ovary syndrome, and the effects of obesity on reproductive outcomes. In fact, she was recently a two year recipient of the prestigious National Research Training Program in Reproductive Medicine, an annual grant awarded to no more than three individuals nationwide. Dr. Luzzo’s research has focused on how oocyte (egg) quality and reproductive outcomes are affected by obesity.
